1930 Colombian 5 Pesos
This was the last year in which Colombia issued gold five peso coins, at a time when few countries were producing gold coins. Perhaps this coin should have been a commemorative issue as 1830 had been an important date in Colombian history. We selected it partially because it is in such superb condition. The obverse side bears a portrait of Simon Bolivar, a man regarded as a great hero in most of South America, and who united Gran Colombia in 1819.
